Is the Eclipse Prayer performed at home?

The jurists agreed on the Sunnah (recommended practice) of congregational prayer for the eclipse prayer (salat al-kusuf), and the permissibility of performing it individually. The Shafi'is and Hanbalis equated the solar eclipse (kusuf) and lunar eclipse (khusuf) in terms of the Sunnah of congregational prayer for both. However, the Hanafis and Malikis did not consider congregational prayer for the lunar eclipse prayer. Al-Kasani states that, according to them, the lunar eclipse prayer is not performed in congregation, unlike the view of Al-Shafi'i. As for Al-Nafrawi, he holds that there is no congregational prayer for the lunar eclipse, and people perform it individually in their homes because it is supererogatory (mustahabb).
