The question

What is the ruling on a Muslim resident in Germany praying with a mosque congregation affiliated with the Turkish community, given the presence of some Sharia violations in the mosque, such as haste in performing obligatory prayers, not straightening the rows, vocalizing Tasbih and supplicating by the sanctity of the Prophet and the Qur'an, reciting the end of Surat Al-Baqarah and Al-Fatihah aloud after the prayer, delaying the Adhan, and the Imam making errors in reciting the Qur'an, knowing that there is no other mosque for the Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah in the city?

The answer

Congratulations on your interest in memorizing the Holy Quran, for it is one of the best acts of obedience. You should advise the aforementioned group and alert them to their Shariah errors with wisdom and gentleness. Their seeking intercession through the Quran is permissible. The Imam's pronunciation of the letter 'dhāl' (ذ) mixed with 'zāy' (ز) in Surat Al-Fatihah does not invalidate the prayer according to the Malikis if it is not intentional, and it is permissible to follow him. Similarly, it is permissible to follow him according to the later Hanafis due to widespread affliction (umum al-balwa). Lahn (grammatical error or mispronunciation) in other than Al-Fatihah does not invalidate the prayer. The Imam's lahn or the group's innovations should not be made an excuse for abandoning congregational prayer, as the benefits of congregational prayer outweigh the harms of praying in this mosque, while also advising the Imam and guiding him to what is correct.
