The answer

Re-offering a fard (obligatory) prayer is not permissible except for a legitimate reason, due to what was reported in Sunan al-Nasa'i from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A prayer is not to be performed twice in one day." However, it is permissible to repeat it to attain the reward of congregational prayer, or because the fard prayer was invalid due to the absence of one of its conditions for validity, or due to doubt about the act's occurrence, or to repeat the prayer with ablution for one who performed it with . As for whoever wishes to perform more prayers, they should engage in supererogatory (nafl) prayers.
