What is the ruling on a جامع mosque imam opposing the construction of a five daily prayers mosque in an area where there is no nearby mosque, and his desire for the mosque to be for Eid prayers only? And what is the ruling on one who is forcibly given a trust he does not wish to bear?

Building mosques is one of the best acts of obedience and means of drawing closer to Allah, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever builds a mosque seeking thereby the Face of Allah, Allah will build for him a similar house in Paradise." One should not oppose the building of a mosque for a community that needs it, especially those who are looked up to. As for the Eid prayer, mosques are not built for it, because the Sunnah (definition) is to pray it in an open area or in unbuilt prayer grounds.
