The answer

You must strive against your soul to repel evil thoughts and seek refuge with Allah from Satan when they appear, while being careful to show sincerity in your worship of Allah and beware of showing off, for Satan seeks to corrupt worship by casting doubt on its validity. The cure for obsessive whispers (waswas) is to turn away from them and not pay them any mind, as Ibn Hajar al-Haytami mentioned. As for honoring one's parents, it is among the greatest deeds that raise one's status, expiate sins, and through which prayers are answered. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned it as the most beloved deed to Allah after performing prayers at their appointed times.
