Scholars have differed on the ruling of making a vow () in the first place, whether it is permissible or disliked. However, they have agreed on the obligation to fulfill it once it has been made, based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Whoever vows to obey Allah, let him obey Him; and whoever vows to disobey Him, let him not disobey Him."
