The answer

The matter of prayer for a Muslim is not easy, as it is the second pillar of Islam after the Two Testimonies. Scholars have agreed that whoever abandons it out of denial is a disbeliever, but they differed on whoever abandons it out of negligence: some said he is a disbeliever, and some said he is a dissolute person. Therefore, one must repent to Allah and commit to performing prayers on time and in congregation. Abandoning prayer and practicing forbidden acts cause a constricted life, and there is no cure for that except by returning to Allah and repenting to Him. Prayer is not obligatory before puberty, and whatever prayers were missed after puberty must be made up. If the number is unknown, one should make up what one predominantly believes to be the number. One must also stop masturbation and repent from it.
