The answer

It is recommended to raise the hands in prayer (Salat) at the time of the opening Takbir (Takbirat al-), when bowing for Ruku', when rising from Ruku', and when standing up for the third unit (rak'ah). It is not prescribed to do so at other times, such as when standing for the second or fourth unit, or when descending for prostration ().
