The answer

Prayer is a great pillar of Islam, and Allah has warned those who are negligent in observing it. All possible means must be taken to perform (ritual bath) for (state of ritual impurity) and prayer on time, such as warming the water, bathing in a warm place, and avoiding cold air after the bath, as this prevents harm. If it is proven that bathing with water, even after taking these precautions, causes illness or worsens an existing one, then (dry ablution) is permissible. Prayer is not forsaken as long as one is conscious, except in the cases of menstruation and post-natal bleeding. The evidence for this is the action of Amr ibn al-Aas and the Prophet's confirmation of it.
