Is it permissible for the bride and groom to receive well-wishers before performing ghusl for janabah after consummation, or is it obligatory for them to perform ghusl first?

There is no harm in a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) going out to receive well-wishers, greet them, and sit with them, based on the narration by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Glory be to Allah! Indeed, a Muslim does not become impure." However, it is preferable for him to perform ablution (wudu') due to the narration by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): "When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in a state of major ritual impurity and wished to eat or sleep, he would perform ablution as he would for prayer." This is also because angels do not approach a person in a state of major ritual impurity unless he performs ablution. It is preferable to abandon the custom of gathering to congratulate the newlyweds immediately after the consummation, as it embarrasses them and causes them psychological burden. Congratulations can be offered at another time.
