What is the ruling on a woman intentionally overexerting herself?

If the question is about intentionally aborting a fetus without a valid excuse, then it is forbidden by Islamic law. However, if it is about enduring hardship with the intention of drawing closer to Allah, then Islamic law does not desire hardship for its own sake. Rather, the reward for hardship comes if the act of worship depends on it, and this reward is secondary to the reward of the worship itself and is not related to hardship being a glorification of Allah. The reward increases by enduring additional hardship, such as performing ghusl (definition) in extreme cold or walking long distances to mosques.
