What is the ruling on masturbating and praying without ablution due to fear, and is there expiation for that?

We have previously explained the prohibition of masturbation and its harms. All praise is due to Allah for guiding you to repent from it; we ask Allah to strengthen you and accept your repentance. If what you did resulted in the emission of madhiy (prostatic fluid), you must purify it and perform ablution. If it resulted in the emission of maniy (semen), you must perform ghusl (definition) (ritual bath). If nothing was emitted, then nothing is required of you. If you prayed without purification, the expiation for that is repentance, seeking forgiveness, and repeating the prayer.
