What type of fluid is discharged from a man—is it madhy (pre-seminal fluid) or not—based on its descriptions in terms of viscosity, transparency, thickness, and color? Does its discharge upon thinking, looking, or waking determine its type and ruling? And what is the other fluid if it is not madhy?

A woman's mani (seminal fluid) is distinguished from other discharges by its light yellow or white color, and its smell is like that of palm spathe, or dough, or eggs after drying. Its emission is accompanied by pleasure and a subsequent relaxation. As for madhiy (pre-seminal fluid), it is a thin, white, sticky liquid that is discharged upon arousal without gushing or relaxation. It invalidates wudu' (ablution) and necessitates washing the affected area and clothes. Mani, on the other hand, is pure, and its impurity is merely recommended to be cleaned, and it necessitates ghusl (definition) (ritual bath). If a woman is uncertain whether a discharge is mani or madhiy, she may choose and assign it the ruling of one of them. However, if she finds wetness after waking up from sleep and it is possible that it is mani, ghusl is obligatory.
