When does the waiting period (iddah) for a woman whose husband died on January 5, 2007, end? Is it permissible for her to leave her home before the waiting period concludes? Is a ritual bath (ghusl) required after the waiting period ends, and how is this bath performed?

If a woman is pregnant, her iddah (definition) (waiting period) ends upon delivery. If she is not pregnant, and her husband passed away on Dhu al-Hijjah 15, 1427 AH (corresponding to January 5, 2007), she calculates the remaining days of Dhu al-Hijjah (14 or 15 days, depending on the completeness of the month), then adds three full months (Muharram, Safar, Rabi' al-Awwal), then completes 30 days from Rabi' al-Thani (15 or 16 days) to make a full four months, then adds another ten days until the same time of death.

Consequently, her iddah ends on Rabi' al-Thani 25, 1428 AH (corresponding to May 12, 2007) if Dhu al-Hijjah was complete, or on Rabi' al-Thani 24, 1428 AH (corresponding to May 11, 2007) if Dhu al-Hijjah was incomplete, at the same hour her husband passed away. She is not required to perform ghusl (definition) (ritual bath) at the end of her iddah if she is in a state of purity.
