Is he required to observe the prohibitions of ihram during the month he spent in Mecca without wearing the clothes of ihram, and what is the expiation for passing the miqat without ihram? Is he required to offer a dam (sacrificial animal), or fast, or feed six poor people?

If a man assumes ihram (definition) for Hajj from the Miqat (definition), he is obligated to abstain from all ihram prohibitions. If he commits them out of ignorance of the ruling, the more cautious approach is for him to offer fidyah (definition) for cutting hair and clipping nails by choosing one of these options: fasting for three days, or feeding six poor persons (half a sa' for each poor person), or sacrificing a sheep. However, if he was aware of the ruling, he must offer a compensatory fidyah from which he can choose, for each prohibition he committed (such as wearing tailored clothes, covering the head, applying perfume, cutting hair, and clipping nails). His Hajj is valid in all these cases. As for intending Hajj from the Miqat, nothing is binding upon him. If he passes the Miqat without assuming ihram, he must offer a dam (sacrificial animal) for abandoning one of the obligatory rites of Hajj.
