What is the fidyah (expiatory payment) due from someone who intended 'Umrah and entered into ihram, then left his wife and her mother after they had entered into ihram, and is it obligatory for him given his ignorance of the ruling, and how is it to be performed, and what is its type and location, knowing that he returned with them and they completed the 'Umrah in Ramadan?

Since the wife and mother have performed Umrah (definition), nothing is required of them unless they committed one of the prohibitions of Ihram (definition), such as removing hair, clipping nails, using perfume, or wearing gloves and the niqab. If one did any of these, a fidyah (definition) is required (slaughtering a sheep in the Haram (definition), or fasting three days, or feeding six poor people). The correct view is that whoever commits something from the prohibitions out of forgetfulness, ignorance, or compulsion, no fidyah is upon them.
