How is the Mushaf purified if it is unintentionally defiled?

Magnifying the Mus-haf and protecting it from impurities is an absolute obligation by consensus (Ijma‘). Whoever throws it into impurities disbelieves (yakfur), and it is forbidden to use it as a pillow. If it is touched by an impurity, one must hasten to purify it. If it will not be damaged by washing, the impurity can be removed by wiping, drying, or exposing it to the air, because washing is not a condition for removing impurity; rather, the soundest opinion is that it can be removed by any purifying agent.
