How can the noble verse, "the Day when neither wealth nor sons will avail," be reconciled with the Hadith, "When a person dies, all his deeds come to an end except for three: a continuing charity, or knowledge from which benefit is derived, or a righteous child who supplicates for him," so that there appears to be no contradiction between them, given that the verse negates the avail of children while the Hadith affirms it?

There is no contradiction between the two noble verses. Allah’s saying, "The Day when neither wealth nor sons will avail, except him who comes to Allah with a sound heart" means that wealth and sons are beneficial if wealth is spent in acts of righteousness and if the sons are righteous. The "person" intended in the is the believer, for the deeds of a non-believer are rendered fruitless.
