The question

Is the chain of transmission for the narrations mentioned by Al-Tabari in his Tafsir, including what was narrated from Muhammad ibn Abi Musa, from Abdullah ibn Muti', concerning the interpretation of the verse, "And if We had sent it down to some of the non-Arabs [Qur'an 26:198]," authentic?

The answer

No one has addressed the authenticity or weakness of this narration. However, Ibn Abi Hatim and Al-Baghawi transmitted it, and a group of exegetes, such as Ibn Atiyyah and Abu Hayyan, quoted it from Al-Tabari. Ibn Hajar also alluded to it in Al-Isabah, and none of them impugned its chain of transmission (sanad).
