The question

What is the interpretation of "but [another] was made to resemble him to them" in His, the Almighty's, saying: "And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them," and what is the divine wisdom behind this resemblance?

The answer

Indeed, Allah disproved the Jews' claim of killing the Messiah, Jesus, peace be upon him, confirming that he was neither killed nor crucified, but rather, it was made to appear so to them, and Allah raised him to Himself. Several interpretations have been mentioned regarding how the resemblance was cast upon another person who was crucified instead of Jesus, peace be upon him, and that the Jews and Christians differed concerning the reality of what occurred. Jesus, peace be upon him, will descend before the Hour to rule by the Islamic , break the cross, kill the swine, and destroy the Antichrist (Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal).
