How can stoning be inferred from an abrogated verse while abandoning the established one? What is the proof from the Qur’an or Sunnah that the Prophet (peace be upon him) stoned after the verse of stoning was abrogated? Is the saying of a Companion a proof from the Qur’an or Sunnah? And what is the view on Aishah’s saying regarding the suckling of an adult?

A Muslim is not permitted to boldly challenge the rulings of Sharia (definition). The punishment of stoning (rajm) is established by the Quran, Sunnah (definition), and scholarly consensus for the married adulterer (al-muhsan). The verse in Surah (definition) An-Nur (24:2), which prescribes one hundred lashes, is specific to the unmarried fornicator. The recitation of the verse pertaining to stoning was abrogated, but its ruling remains. It has been confirmed that stoning occurred after the revelation of Surah An-Nur. The statements of Umar ibn Al-Khattab and Aisha, may Allah be pleased with them, regarding these matters are transmissions of divine revelation, not merely personal opinions.
