Is it permissible to pause at the words "the Sovereign" and "the Most Holy" in the verse: "He is Allah, besides Whom there is no god; the Sovereign, the Most Holy, the Giver of Peace," and likewise to pause at each word of "a witness," "a bearer of good tidings," and "a warner" in the verse: "Indeed, We have sent you as a witness and a bearer of good tidings and a warner, and a caller to Allah by His permission, and an illuminating lamp"?

One should not stop after every word by choice, except out of necessity, such as for a test or to catch one's breath. It is more appropriate for the reciter to adhere to the of stopping at the end of verses or at the conclusion of meanings, and not to stop between words that are related to each other. This is not forbidden by Sacred Law, for there is no obligatory or forbidden stop in the Quran, except when there is a specific reason for it.
