The question

What is meant by the articulation of a letter from its point of articulation (makhraj) and giving each letter its due and its entitlement (haqquhu wa mustahaqquhu)? Is it necessary to focus on the contact of the two extremities of the letter? Are the characteristics (sifat) of letters similar to the points of articulation (makharij) in this regard?

The answer

The questioner who suffers from obsessive doubts is advised to ignore their doubts regarding the articulation points (makharij al-huruf) when reciting, and not to over-scrutinize. If they doubt the correctness of their pronunciation, they should not pay attention to that doubt, because these are mere whisperings (). Scholars have warned against obsessive whispering regarding the articulation points, considering it a deception from Satan that distracts the worshipper from understanding the recitation, as mentioned by Ibn al-Jawzi. If a person articulates normally, they will most likely recite correctly, and the one who is ill is not held accountable for what they cannot bear. The 'right' of a letter is to be произнесено from its articulation point possessing its inherent and necessary qualities, such as jahran (audibility) and shiddah (strength), while its 'due' is its acquired qualities, such as tafkhim (emphasis) and tarqiq (softening).
