What is the religious ruling on kissing the Holy Quran after finishing its recitation?

A Muslim is enjoined to recite the Qur'an and ponder its meanings for its goodness and reward. The Prophet encouraged its recitation so that it may intercede for its companions on the Day of Resurrection. As for kissing the Mushaf (definition) (Qur'an), scholars have differed regarding it: some have deemed it desirable by analogy with kissing the Black Stone and the hand of a scholar, while others permitted it. However, the Malikis disliked it. The more correct view is to refrain from kissing it, as there is no textual evidence or tradition from the righteous predecessors to support it.
