Memorizing the Quran is a blessing that necessitates thanking Allah. Reciting it with and observing its rules is a religious obligation, because it was revealed with Tajweed and has reached us in the same manner. This is indicated by the Almighty's saying: "And recite the Quran with a measured recitation." Therefore, a Hafiz of the Quran must learn the correct recitation from a proficient teacher.
