What should a wife do with her husband who has been reading and memorizing the Qur'an for forty years, but refuses to learn the rules of Tajwid, claiming that the letter "nun" – "How can I conceal the nun when it is manifest in the Book of Allah?" – and does not accept adding anything to what he already knows?

Memorizing the Quran is a blessing that necessitates thanking Allah. Reciting it with Tajweed (definition) and observing its rules is a religious obligation, because it was revealed with Tajweed and has reached us in the same manner. This is indicated by the Almighty's saying: "And recite the Quran with a measured recitation." Therefore, a Hafiz of the Quran must learn the correct recitation from a proficient teacher.
