What should one do if they are reciting the Quran in a car or public place and are unable to prostrate for the Sajdah of recitation?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
There is no harm in omitting prostration while completing the recitation if the the reciter is in a place where prostration is not possible, because the prostration of recitation (Sajdat al-Tilawah) is (recommended) and not (obligatory). Jurists have differed regarding a substitute for the prostration of recitation when it is not possible: some of them permitted remembrance () as a substitute, while others held that there is no substitute due to the lack of evidence.
