What is the ruling on one who masturbates on the Day of Arafah during Hajj, and what are the consequences?

Masturbation is forbidden and has serious harms. Scholars have differed regarding its invalidation of the ritual while in a state of ihram (definition). The majority hold that it does not invalidate the ritual, and a sheep is due. The Hanbalis, however, are of the view that a camel is obligatory. The sheep is to be distributed among the poor of the Haram (definition). This applies if the one who masturbates knows that masturbation is among the prohibitions of ihram. As for the ignorant person, nothing is obligatory upon him.
