Is a woman who deliberately broke her fast in Ramadan, then repented and fasted for two consecutive months, subject to a severe expiation, knowing that she completed the last days of her expiation on Eid al-Adha?
The previous answer stated that scholars differed regarding the obligation of the severe expiation ( mughalladhah) upon a woman who invalidates her fast by intercourse, and the preferred view was that it is not obligatory for her. However, if she adopts the other opinion which mandates the expiation, then she must emancipate a slave. If she cannot find one, then she must fast for two consecutive months. If Eid al-Adha occurs during her fasting, she is obligated to break her fast, and it is not permissible for her to fast on that day. Scholars differed regarding the validity of the continuity [of the fast]; most of them held that it is interrupted and she must restart, whereas the Hanbalis held that breaking the fast on Eid and the days of Tashreeq does not interrupt the continuity, and she must complete her fast immediately thereafter.
