How many Ramadans did the Messenger (peace be upon him) fast?

Scholars are in agreement that the fasting of was ordained in Sha’ban of the second year of the Hijra. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, fasted nine Ramadans, because he passed away in Rabi’ al-Awwal of the eleventh year of the Hijra.
