The answer

Scholars have differed regarding the ruling on wearing a wig ("baroqa"). The more preponderant opinion is that it is permissible to wear it if the hair is thin and considered a defect in people's eyes, in order to remove the defect, while being careful not to deceive during an engagement. However, if there is no such defect, then wearing a wig is forbidden and resembles hair extensions, the doer of which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed.
