The answer

Islam inclines towards facilitation in matters of marriage, and there was no complexity in it during the Prophetic era. An example of this is the marriage of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to Safiyyah, may Allah be pleased with her, where he freed her and married her. His wedding feast was a hais (a dish of) aqt (dried yogurt), dates, and ghee, brought by the Companions. There was no specific attire or day for the wedding. Nevertheless, there is no harm in having special attire for the wedding or habitually assigning a specific day for it, provided that Islamic guidelines are observed, such as not displaying adornment ( tabarruj) or imitating disbelieving women, and not believing there is a special virtue in it.
