Did Imam Bukhari issue a fatwa that the milk of an animal (beast) establishes prohibition (i.e., makes one a mahram), and did he retract this fatwa?

It is not known whether the narration mentioned about Imam Al-Bukhari, which was cited by Al-Sarakhsi, Al-Babarti, and Ibn Al-Humam, is authentic, or whether he retracted it if it was indeed issued by him. Al-Bukhari is the Commander of the Faithful in Hadith (definition), and his knowledge is not diminished by making a mistake in a single issue, for every scholar has a slip that is overshadowed by his good deeds, and the infallible is only he whom Allah the Almighty protects. Imam Malik said: "Everyone's statement can be taken or left, except the occupant of this grave [meaning the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)]."
