Is it permissible to systematically and regularly follow the narration of Hadith by meaning, not out of necessity but merely for simplification, while not allowing the narration of the Hadith verbatim when that is possible and easy?
The narration of the Prophet's bi'l-ma'na (in meaning, not necessarily verbatim) is permissible according to the majority of scholars. Exceptions to this include his comprehensive statements (jawami' al-kalim) and phrases used in acts of worship, such as adhkar (remembrances) and du'a (supplications) that are authentically transmitted. If its narration in meaning is permissible, then simplifying it and making its meaning accessible to the general public is even more permissible, unless the intention is to diminish its stature or ridicule it. In such a case, the perpetrator commits a grave sin, and it may even amount to apostasy that expels one from the faith if it involves ridiculing the texts of revelation.
