Is the Hadith of Ibn Abbas in Bukhari (The idols that were among Noah's people came to be among the Arabs later...) considered weak and not permissible to use as evidence, due to some scholars discrediting its authenticity on the grounds of a disconnected chain of narration?

This hadith (definition) has been accused of being interrupted (munqati') between Ata' al-Khurasani and Ibn Abbas. However, Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar strengthened the view that the hadith, as transmitted by Ibn Jurayj, comes from both Ata' al-Khurasani and Ata' ibn Abi Rabah. Based on this, the hadith is not weak, and its use as evidence is not precluded. Exegetes have used it to interpret Surat Nuh, and there are corroborating narrations for it.
