The "Love of the world is the head of every sin" is weak, and some have even attributed it to fabrication. Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in Shu'ab al-Iman with a good chain of transmission from Al- Al-Basri as a mursal report, and it has also been attributed to Jesus son of Mary, Malik ibn Dinar, and Jundub al-Bajali.
