What is the authenticity of naming and kunya with the name "Hammām," based on the Hadith: "The most truthful names are Harith and Hammām"? And is the name "Hammām" among the good names with which one should name?
The : "Name yourselves with the names of the Prophets, and the most beloved names to Allah are 'Abdullah and 'Abdur-Rahman, and the most truthful are Harith and Hammam, and the ugliest are Harb and Murrah" is (good) due to its collective chains of transmission, with the exception of the phrase "Name yourselves with the names of the Prophets." Naming oneself with "Harith" and "Hammam" is commendable because of their truthfulness, for every person yahruth (earns/acquires) and yahum (intends/has resolve). When choosing names, one should consider the time, place, and customs to avoid disapproval or ridicule, as the saying "Every person has a share from his name" is not an absolute rule; rather, its opposite may occur. The name "Hammam" signifies resolve and determination, not sadness.
