The question

What is the authenticity of the narration that states: "Allah Almighty asks Gabriel: 'Did the servant insist in his request?' So Gabriel says: 'Yes, my Lord, he insisted.' Then He says to Gabriel: 'Grant My servant his ultimate desire,' and delay it, for I love to hear his voice," and does Allah love to hear the voice of His servant, and does Allah answer the prayer of one who insists on Him based on this narration?

The answer

The aforementioned is very weak. Allah Almighty tests His servant to hear his humble supplication and prayer. The servant is more beloved to Allah the more he insists in supplication. A Muslim should not despair of a response and should not abandon supplication, for Allah answers His humble servant, either by hastening the fulfillment of the supplication, or by storing it for the Hereafter, or by averting evil from him.
