The answer

In summary, the two rak'ahs after 'Asr are a if 'Asr prayer is performed with them before the sun turns yellow. 'Umar's prohibition of them was a matter of (independent reasoning), which some Companions agreed with and others disagreed with, most notably Umm al-Mu'minin 'A'ishah, may Allah be pleased with her. Each of the two groups had those who agreed with them, so it is necessary to refer back to the Sunnah, which is firmly established and authentic through the narration of Umm al-Mu'minin, without any evidence contradicting it, except for the general ruling that is specified by the of 'Ali and Anas. It is appropriate that we remind the Ahl al-Sunnah who are keen on reviving the Sunan to pray these two rak'ahs whenever they pray 'Asr at its prescribed time.
