The answer

It is not mentioned in the books of Shamā'il (characteristics) or Siyar (biographies) that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was frequently ill. Rather, it is established that he would fall ill and be afflicted by fever and severe discomfort, as in the of Ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him: "Indeed, I am afflicted with discomfort as two men among you are afflicted." This was for two rewards, for there is no Muslim who is afflicted with harm but that Allah removes his sins thereby.
