The cessation of menstruation is not considered a defect that must be disclosed according to the majority of jurists. A defect, in this context, is defined as something that prevents sexual intercourse, or diseases that are repulsive or contagious. Some scholars are of the opinion that it is obligatory to disclose any defect that defeats the purpose of marriage, such as the inability to bear children. This is the view of Ibn al-Qayyim, which Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen deemed correct. The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta' has issued a fatwa (definition) stating that disclosure is obligatory if the problem is significant and not temporary; otherwise, disclosure is not required. The resolution of disputes falls under the jurisdiction of the Sharia (definition) court.
