What is the ruling of the Sharia on a wife who refuses to wear the niqab after wearing it for years, and insists on going out without a mahram, with the knowledge and approval of her family?

A woman's departure to markets and public places without her husband's permission makes her disobedient and rebellious (nashiz). Jurists stipulate that for a woman to go out, she must have her husband's permission and observe the legal hijab (definition) (including the face and hands). If these two conditions are not met, the husband has the right to treat her as a rebellious wife. It is not permissible for her family to assist her in disobeying her husband. A mahram (definition) is not required for her going out unless it is for travel. The husband is advised not to rush into a decision to separate from her and to consider her psychological state.
