Does a divorce issued by a husband to his wife, while he is in a state of extreme anger and illness (diabetes and high blood pressure), and which resulted in him saying: "You are divorced," after having divorced her on two previous occasions, one of which he remembers and the other he does not, take effect?

It appears that the husband issued three separate divorces (talaqs). The decision regarding divorce rests upon his word, and there is no consideration given to his lack of intention in the first instance, or the wife's failure to remember the second divorce. The validity of the third divorce is not negated by its occurrence during menstruation or during a fit of anger that did not deprive him of his awareness. If all three divorces have indeed occurred, then the wife has become irrevocably separated (baynunah kubra), and she is not permissible for her first husband until she marries another man, consummates the marriage, and then he divorces her or dies, and her 'iddah (definition) (waiting period) expires. It is advisable to consult a Sharia (definition) court or trustworthy scholars.
