Is it better for a woman to perform I'tikaf during the last ten days [of Ramadan], or to stay in her home if she is not responsible for anyone and feels that she has done nothing during Ramadan and wishes to mend her heart and attain rewards?

The servant should pay attention to seasonal acts of worship, such as I'tikaf (spiritual retreat) in the last ten days of Ramadan (definition). It is one of the greatest means of focusing the heart on worship. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, his companions, and his wives were keen on it. I'tikaf is a Sunnah (definition) for men by consensus, and for women according to the majority of scholars, provided that it does not disrupt their duties. Therefore, I'tikaf is recommended for a woman if she is unmarried or if her husband grants her permission, and if her I'tikaf does not result in neglecting a duty, committing a forbidden act, or causing fitna (discord/temptation).
