Is it permissible for a menstruating woman to enter the mosque to attend a religious lesson that she needs, especially if she is a non-Arab who does not understand Arabic and wishes to increase her knowledge? Does the ruling differ in Ramadan when such lessons are more frequent? And what is the ruling on one who did so out of ignorance of the ruling?

It is not permissible for a menstruating woman to enter and remain in the mosque. Scholars have cited as evidence the hadith (definition): "Indeed, I do not make it permissible for a menstruating woman or one in a state of ritual impurity (junub)." They also cite the action of Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, when the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked her for the mat from the mosque, and she replied: "I am menstruating." He then said: "Your menstruation is not in your hand," which indicates her knowledge of the impermissibility of a menstruating woman entering the mosque. A woman must avoid entering the mosque during her menstruation. She can seek knowledge by listening to audio recordings and reading books, or attending lectures after she becomes pure. As for one who entered the mosque out of ignorance of the ruling, there is no blame upon her.
