Is an employee sinful if the factory owner orders him to sell stolen raw materials to another customer and to steal electricity?
Source: FtawySummarized from the full answer at Ftawy · imported Sep 2, 2026
It is not permissible to sell stolen raw materials or to cooperate in stealing electricity, otherwise, the seller would be an accomplice in sin. The employer must be advised to repent and restore rights. If he does not, then the truth must be clarified to those from whom the theft occurred. Allah Almighty says: "And do not cooperate in sin and aggression" and "And do not incline toward those who do wrong." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Religion is sincerity (or advice)."
