It is not permissible for your wife to receive a salary from her workplace while abandoning work without the permission of an authorized official. If she paid a bribe to the accountant to cover her absence, the sin would be greater, as she would be combining unlawfully consuming wealth with paying a forbidden bribe. If the work involves prohibitions, such as impermissible mixing, then she must leave it.
