What is the ruling on employees taking office supplies from their workplace that are in excess of their needs without the manager's knowledge, and then presenting them as gifts to others or using them personally, knowing that they consider this permissible on the grounds that they are more in need of them and that the manager might prevent them?

The employee is considered a private contractor and entrusted with the tasks and tools assigned to him. It is not permissible for him to use work tools for his personal benefit or to give them to his relatives, as that is an aggression and a betrayal of trust. Allah Almighty said: (Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due). And whoever takes something unjustly must repent and return it to its rightful owners, unless the employer permits it.
