What is the ruling on working as an intermediary between businessmen and an oil company, in a system where procurement representatives demand bribes in exchange for bids, knowing that the intermediary has no influence on decision-making?

It is permissible to work as a broker between businessmen and a company for a fixed fee or an agreed-upon percentage, provided that the goods and projects are not forbidden by Sharia (definition), and that the broker does not influence the purchasing or dealing decision in his capacity as an employee in the purchasing department. However, if his work involves negotiation or he has an influence on decision-making, it is not permissible for him to take a commission from any party other than his employer, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "What is wrong with the agent whom we send and then he comes and says: 'This is for you and this is for me'? Why does he not sit in his father's and mother's house and see whether anything is given to him or not?" Therefore, the permissibility of working as a broker depends on the absence of a conflict of interest or exploitation of one's position.
