The answer

The Shari'ah permits a suitor to see the woman he proposes to and to inquire about her, so that he may be clear-sighted. However, this permission is conditioned upon theing hope that she will accept and agree to the proposal; otherwise, it is not permissible to look. If the young man hoped his proposal would be accepted, then there is no harm in what he and the one who gave him the address did, and the sister should think well of both of them.
