Is it permissible to distribute baklava or give out charity on behalf of a deceased son, after his mother saw him in a dream eating baklava?

Among the things upon which scholars have unanimously agreed that the deceased benefits from are: supplication (du'a) and seeking forgiveness for them, and giving charity on their behalf. There is no harm for the questioner to give charity for the reward of his deceased son, as both the father and the son will benefit. The son benefits from the reward of the charity, and the father benefits from maintaining ties with his son and showing kindness to him. As for linking this to the interpretation of the aforementioned dream, and stipulating that the charity be a specific type of sweets, this is something of which we have no knowledge. The interpretation of dreams is a slippery slope that should not be ventured into carelessly. The best form of charity to give on behalf of the deceased is ongoing charity (sadaqah (definition) jariyah).
